At Valley Neuromuscular Therapy and Massage a variety of massage and spa treatments are offered and I encourage you to visit my Menu Of Services page and experience the many benefits of any treatment that appeals to you. An emphasis in my work, however, is on Neuromuscular Therapy, a treatment modality that focuses specifically on injured/overstressed muscles and works to break the cycle of chronic pain.
Upon your first visit, to establish a treatment plan, you will be given a brief health history form to fill out. I will then assess your posture, gait, and range of motion. From there I will perform a manual soft-tissue assessment to note areas of pain or dysfunction. After these assessments begins the neuromuscular therapy treatment.
The neuromuscular therapy session focuses on relieving pain and restoring mobility to muscles that have been traumatized by trigger points and tender points ("knots"). A common misconception is that NMT work is painful and you have to just "breathe through it" and it will work. A Neuromuscular Therapist should NOT have to cause pain to get results! It is crucial that both you and your therapist are in constant communication to ensure proper pressure is being applied.
Examples of people who could greatly benefit
from NMT work include those experiencing TMJ disorder, carpal tunnel
pain, sciatic pain/pseudo-sciatica, migraines and tension headaches, rotator cuff injuries, those with pain resulting from too high or too low foot arches, knee pain, and anyone who has developed pain from postural demands, straining working conditions, sports and activities which tax particular body parts and muscles, and those suffering chronic pain resulting from injuries. Basically, anyone who has pain can benefit from neuromuscular therapy!
Neuromuscular Therapy and massage are incredible tools to utilize in your path to wellness, but in my practice I wish to not only perform the bodywork to get you feeling better, but to also educate and guide you to living optimally so that you stay feeling better!
